Topic: A Hands on MySQL Cluster 5.1 Tutorial

Cost: A$150

We’ll cover the basics: What Is MySQL Cluster, what you can do with it, what it doesn’t do. Then we’ll cover some concepts: what node types there are, arbitration, split brain problem and transaction durability. We will then cover running a cluster: starting the nodes, running queries, what happens during node failure and node recovery. We'll also cover basic administration, taking and restoring backups Planning deploying of MySQL Cluster will be discussed as well as the coverage of features new to MySQL 5.1 such as replication and disk data. We’ll also briefly talk about the NDB API and how it can be used to write C++ applications that directly access the cluster. Finally, we’ll also talk about training, consulting and certification related to MySQL Cluster. This is a hands on session. We will help you install and run MySQL Cluster on your Linux based laptop.

Topic: Implementing Travel Reservation Service on SOA Principles: an example

Cost: A$150

The workshop will walk through implementation of a simple travel reservation solution using Java CAPS and SOA principles.

Solution implementation will explore the following Java CAPS topics:

  • Importing and using XML Schemas and WSDL definitions in a Java CAPS project
  • Encapsulating Database operations in New Web Service collaborations
  • Creating and using Oracle Stored Procedure OTDs in eInisght business processes
  • Implementing multi-operation web services in eInsight business processes
  • Invoking New Web Service collaborations from eInisght business processes
  • Orchestrating web services using eInisght
  • eInisght exception and compensation handling
  • Exercising web services using SoapUI

Topic: The Complete Works of the Sun Identity Suite

Cost: A$150

The following workshop is an abridged version of four Sun Education Identity Management courses. The ‘Complete Works of the Sun Identity Suite’ provides students with an overview of Sun's Identity Management products and where they fit within the complementary Identity Management disciplines of Provisioning, Web Access Control and Directory Services.

Workshop attendees are introduced to a broad range of aspects spanning Sun Java System Identity Manager, Access Manager, Federation Manager, Identity Manager Service Provider Edition, and Directory Server Enterprise Edition products. Attendees will be able to appreciate and describe how these complementary components are used to provide a comprehensive Identity Management solution.

Leveraging specific components from multiple sources, the Workshop delivers the greatest relevance and value to any individual seeking an extensive understanding of the breadth of the Sun Identity Suite as opposed to the depth delivered by the highly regarded week-long courses available through Sun Learning.

Implementing Travel Reservation Service on SOA Principles: an example

Abstract

In this workshop we will implement an example Travel Reservation Service, organised using basic SOA principles, and implemented in Java CAPS. Along the way we will:

  • Create XSD Objects from XML Schema Documents
  • Created WSDL Objects from WSDL Documents
  • Create an Oracle Table-based OTD
  • Create "New Web Service" collaboration that wraps Oracle Select and Update operations into an XA Transaction
  • Create, expose and exercise a two-operation Book/Cancel Airline Seat Web Service that uses the New Web Service collaboration
  • Create an Oracle Stored Procedure-based OTD
  • Create, expose and exercise a two-operation Reserve/Unreserve Hotel Room Web Service that uses the Stored Procedure OTD
  • Create, expose and exercise the Travel Reservation process that orchestrates the Airline Booking and Hotel Reservation services and
    • invokes web services
    • uses scopes
    • throws and catches faults
    • implements compensation activities

While at it we will see how Java CAPS is used to implement the following EAI patterns

  • Request/Reply pattern
  • Process Manager pattern
  • Content Enricher pattern
  • Content Based Router pattern
  • Document Message pattern
  • Envelope Wrapper pattern
  • Event Message pattern
  • Event-Driven Consumer pattern
  • Idempotent Receiver pattern
  • Message Channel pattern
  • Messaging End Point pattern
  • Message Router pattern
  • Message Translator pattern
  • Message pattern
  • Messaging Mapper pattern
  • Remote Procdure Invocation pattern
  • Test Message pattern
  • Transactional Client pattern
