ZDNet Australia Calls X4450 the Gutsiest Server

Sun’s growth in the x86 server market continues with the latest IDC data showing Sun’s market share in Australia has doubled in 18 months.

And nobody sums up an example of the technology better than ZDNet Australia.

ZDNet recently reviewed the Sun Fire X4450 server and called it the:

"Gutsiest server we have seen. The benchmark results are the best we have seen in high end servers."

The Sun Fire X4450 is powered by Intel Xeon processor 7400 series with up to six processing cores and runs the Solaris 10 operating system, Linux, Windows and VMware.

The review highlighted the Sun Fire X4450’s capabilities and small form factor:

“This 2 RU machine is crammed with raw power.”

It was not just the power that impressed the reviewer:

”Too often we look inside a server and think, ‘what a mess!’ Strange air flow and cable routing is common — but not so with the X4450. There is hardly a cable in sight and airflow is straight as an arrow from front to back.”
