Java CAPS for SOA and Composite ApplicationsThe application architecture for most organisations resembles a patchwork of databases and systems. Typically this "accidental architecture" evolves because companies implement a new application every time they need to resolve specific business problems or competitive threats, or meet new regulatory requirements. The result is information locked inside individual databases and applications. And while these databases and applications may share similar data or repeated functionality, allowing them to interact may pose a threat to data integrity. As a result, valuable data is siloed or inaccessible to be used for customer loyalty programs, brand reputation and building sustainable competitive edge. What if, however, there was a way of putting a "wrapper" around all the existing line of business applications? What if that wrapper exposed "modular packets" of business application functionality, like "add customer" which could be made available for re-use in a new application? This wrapper is in effect a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and is used to create composite applications. But wouldn't it be even better if there was a way to talk to these software application systems directly through their published application programming interfaces (APIs) and the APIs discretely exposed these "modular packets" of business application functionality? Sun Java CAPS simplifies integrationSun's Java Composite Application Platform Suite (Java CAPS) does all of this and more. Java CAPS is a unified, comprehensive suite that allows you to:
This is achieved without the need for extensive coding. Java CAPS includes all the runtimes and tools your business needs to build and deploy enterprise SOA applications. Composite applications made even easier with Java CAPS BMPWith Java CAPS Business Process Manager (BPM) tool, developers and managers can model required business processes and assess whether or not they will deliver required outcomes. The Java CAPS BPM tool has the ability to communicate, through adapters, with all of the modular packets of business functionality available. It then integrates these, from all of the different "application silos", to create a composite application or new business system, without destroying the inherent data integrity of the application software system of the enterprise. On a smaller scale, you can use the Java CAPS BPM tool to build a business-to-business export/import function and integrate data with an existing enterprise resource planning system.
